Personal storytelling project

The Life Behind the Sign

Who would have known that rock bottom had a basement?

Six years waiting on SSDI. Three kids. No EBT. Eviction pressure. A system that says disabled people can’t legally work their way out. Inside the Sneakers is the story of being trapped, judged, and still trying to climb back from the place most people only see for one second at a stoplight.

What this is

Not a pity page. A record.

This is the public notebook for what happened, what it cost, and what it takes to keep moving when every system tells you to wait.

Some people see the sign. This project is about the person inside the sneakers holding it.

01

The collapse

The moment things started falling apart — housing pressure, money delays, and the slow grind of being ignored.

02

The receipts

Posts, updates, and proof of what happened, written in plain language without polishing the pain out of it.

03

The comeback

A living story about making it through the basement of rock bottom and finding the stairs back up.

The story is being built piece by piece.
